On June 4th, 2011, we lost a friend. If you’d like to share your memories or condolences of the one many of us called ‘Jok’ please feel free to do so.

Words can not describe the sadness that I feel today,
In truth we only met in this stupid game we play.
But in all of those that have come and gone, You stood out amongst the rest.
Never once satisfied with my statues quo, you helped me try to become the best.
You’ll be remembered as someone who tried never to leave anyone behind,
As someone who tried to live their life to the fullest with the end in mind.
Farewell Wesley, until we meet again…

Such a loss of a great guy, always the life of the group. A friend is a friend whether you have met in real life or not. Always devastating to lose a friend.

My prayers go out to all of Wesley’s friends and family.
Wesley was an amazing leader, an extraordinary person, and more importantly a friend to anyone and everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. We don’t think of someone being gone forever until they actually are, I only regret not being able to say goodbye and thank you.

Jok you will be missed. You were one of the few back in the day willing to give a nobody of a feral a shot at making something of himself.
You and I had a lot in common between gaming, cars & bikes, and turning wrenches it’s sad that I was never able to buy you that beer.
My heart goes out to his family, girl friend, close friends and LoA.
Thanks for the memories.

A tragedy affecting all who knew him online and off. His humor and wit made for epic memories. He will be missed.

Jok was the main reason I got into LoA. I can remember my first raid with LoA. We’re in heroic ToC pulling beasts. Its my first week in the guild and the only person I’ve talked to was Kerby.
The one thing I can absolutely remember from that raid is when he tried to pronounce my toon’s name. It just wasn’t happening so he gave up and said he was just going to call me Horacio. Ever since, that is how I’ve been known, Horacio…

Jok, you will be missed greatly.
Wes’ sense of humor, put a smile on my face more times than i can remember.
I will fondly remember all of the fun times we had.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Wesley’s family and friends.
We didn’t always see eye to eye, but you were an amazing person and gone far to early from this earth. You will be missed by all those who knew you both in game and out.

Wow I’m so sorry to hear this. Thinking back I definitely thought of him as a friend and have several good memories that immediately come to mind. Must say it is odd to consider someone whom I never met in person a friend but he was one.
Although my job is a pretty good reminder for me, it shows you just how fragile life is and that if you’re not trying to live each day to the fullest then you’re doing it wrong.
So sorry for the loss of your good friend man.

Wow, I’m so sorry to hear this Carn. I have nothing but positive memories of Kerby from being in LoA as he used to crack me up during raids (busting Horatio’s balls). He also made me feel welcome right off the bat asking me to run things outside of raids like 5 mans and pvp. In fact, the last time I talked to him is when he asked me to go to TK with the two of you for a shot at ashes. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family, he will be missed.

I wish i knew the right words to say, for once I’m speechless!
Best wishes to you and your family Carn, and Jok’s family too.
Losing a friend, even a digital one can impact you in ways that you never knew were possible.

My friend Wesley is gone, this makes me very sad. My memories of him will never fade, he’d say “Yes they will! You’re old and will be senile soon!” Many of you will have great anecdotes to add to this thread, please do. No matter your feelings toward Jok as a player this is the time to remember the funny things he did or said or organized.
I met him through Carn as they were levelling Jokstrap. We had many laughs that first night which of course as per Jok style were mostly at my expense. This was to the beginning of our online friendship and where do I even begin:
Jokstrap/Kerby/Jokitch/Phiinia/Nagíos/Boodylicious/Wizen (on another server).
Woman!
Giving GM to Castoro so she could rob the bank and give Phin a heart attack
We won an Arena match and he announced it to the guild, almost in disbelief
Playing arenas with my son on Wizen then thinking whenever I played well it was him
Killing me over and over and over again in the Gurubashi Arena
Killing me on the first Prince kill it looked like I was going to survive on (starting to see a pattern here?!?)
Holding my hand through so many instants, raids, battlegrounds, and arenas
Making me a much better player by laughing at me, pushing me, teaching me, and continuing to play with me
There are many more memories however wall of text aside this is for Carn and his family, for LoA and all former LoAers:
A friend who dies, it’s something of you who dies.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I haven’t checked the site in a few days and was shocked when I saw the front page. Jok was a great guy and I know he’ll be missed by all. My condolences to you Carn who knew him well and to his family.

It’s never easy to hear news like this. Jok was one of the first people to befriend me when I came to this guild. I have so many fond memories of him and Phinia messing with each other’s toons constantly.
Jok, you will be missed by all of us here in LoA, currently and formerly. Rest in Peace my friend.

I came here today to apply to LoA and just happened to come across the candle… I can’t believe it. My heart literally stopped for a beat when I saw the name.
To his family and friends: I am so sorry for your loss. Genuinely, I am. Jok was an amazing person who really went out of his way to help others even if he didn’t know them.
I have never been a part of LoA but a couple of months ago back when I had made my character, I was going through a lot of trouble figuring out my class and just had no idea whatsoever as to what I was doing and he happened to be in my area and just asked me “do you need help?”
Just like that, and I never got around to asking him what he was doing there in the first place but whatever he was doing he just stopped and talked to me and really TAUGHT me how to play my character. Jok helped me lvl to about 50 and then I had to take a very long break from WoW due to personal reasons and sadly I was never able to speak to him again.
He was an incredible person with an amazing sense of humor and those times were probably the only times where I’d type in “lol” and actually mean it.
I wish I could have picked up our friendship where we had left off.
My condolences to his family and friends.
He will be missed.

I actually cannot believe this. After being away from LoA for close to a year now I decided to pop back onto the website to poke around and see what the old guild was up to and this was the first thing I came across.
I don’t know how to express how hard this news must have been to not only Carn, who introduced and brought Jok into all of our lives but to Joks family as well. I myself have lost two family members this year and after hearing the news of Joks passing I feel as if I have lost a third.
I was just recently going through some old screenshots of my time playing WoW and remember seeing Jok/Kerby in some of them and laughed when I remember all the good times I had with not only him but everyone else in LoA.
I really do not know what to say, it’s not like a loss felt when a fellow guild member quits the game, he is actually gone, gone from not only the game but the world too.
I am going to miss Jok, he was a great guy always there to help and to share a laugh with everyone. You’ll be missed Wesley.
Deepest regards,

To quote many here, I have truly speechless. I have many fond memories of Jok and LOA during my time on WOW. Though the constant deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan cut my time with you guys short, I have always came back here about 2-3 times a year to see what’s going on. I was completely stunned and sadden to see the candle. Like you part of me wants to rewind the clock back to when BC was just coming out so I could spend time with my LOA family, but I will always cherish these memories and keep saying prayers for Carn and Wesley’s family.
